Third E-zine Issue Stats

The third issue of our infoMarketing e-zine was published on 2004-10-05, with the subject: [MarketingStudies] The Marketer's Introduction to RSS Content Delivery Power.

Here are the basic statistics, this time also with a relative % difference from the last e-zine issue:

Total list: 1490 [+5,74% change from previous issue]

Double opt-in: 1076 [72,21%]
[+6,53% change]

Total recipients after "remove" list check: 1019 [94,70%]
[+5,92% change]

Undelivered: 60 [5,89%]
[+53,84% change]

Removal requests: 10 [0,98%]
[+100% change]

Effective: 949 [93,13%]
[+3,37% change]

As you can see our subscription base increased for 5,92%. On the other hand, we also saw a great increase in undelivered e-mails [+53,84% change] and removal requests [+100% change].

Consequently, the effective number of subscribers (total recipients after "remove" list check - undelivered - removal requests) increased for only 3,37%.

Of course, it's quite natural that our subscription list is growing very slowly as we are doing practically nothing to promote it, in addition to the fact that more and more of our readers are RSS users.

However, what is interesting is the high number of removals in comparison to the previos two issues, especially considering that this issue actually only carried a link to a free report on RSS with high perceived value. In addition, this issue was also much shorter than the previous issues.

For your information, the basic statistics for the second issue that went out on 2004-08-30:

Total list size: 1409 [total subscriber count]

Confirmed (double opt-in) subscribers: 1010 [71,68%]
[the number of people that actually confirmed their subscription]

Total recipients after "remove" list check: 962 [95,25%]
[the total number of people that the mailing was sent to after comparing the list with our removals list]

Undelivered: 39 [4,05%]

Removal requests: 5 [0,52%]

Effective: 918 [95,42%]
