Lawyers and Sharks

I spent most of my day today working with our designers at Finance on the cover for a new print book we're releasing (sort of my farewell project there).

The #1 question I was dealing with was how in the world can you make a book on law (Marketing Communications and Law) exciting?

I pondered around the idea of changing its title to something more agressive, such as "How to Save Millions by Mastering the Legal Side of Marketing" and many others like it, but was stopped by "the forces that be", including the book authors, that thought titles like this are too "cheap".

So it was back to the drawing board ... and no mentioning of how to save millions:)

We made about 20 different cover versions, most of them quite ordinary and not too exciting, although still better than most law books anywhere.

But after finishing the first 18 and being content with the results, I wanted to try something different ... something that would make a law book really exciting.

Now, I'm quite sure this idea won't pass through our filters, but it's at least worth a shot.

Is it exciting?

You can be the judge of that ...

The subtitle on the cover actually says "Don't Get Eaten by the Law Sharks".

We got the idea for this from, in my huble opinion, one of the best business books around, Harvey Mackay's Swim With the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive.
