What Does Marqui's "Conversation Coordinator" Do?

Marqui responds to my post concerning their new Conversation Coordinator and wonders whether they are the first company to formalize this role?

Are they? Feedback is much apprechiated ...

Here's what they say their Coordinator does:

"- sends us a daily summary of what folks are saying about Marqui and whether or not there are any issues we need to respond to

- scans a number of high profile blogs to see what they are writing about and flags posts that we should consider commenting on (not necessarily related to Marqui)

- notes any common themes or industry trends that she thinks we should be aware of"

As it seems this person's foremost responsibility is tracking online conversations and doing business intelligence based on her research.

This is still not what I would call "Dialog Faciliation", but is a good step towards that role. And, as Marqui's post would suggest, some other people at Marqui are actually charged with responding to internet dialogs.

Is this the time to define new roles within the "professional blogger role", as defined by Paul Chaney in an interview we recently did?

In 1988 Roxanne Brown noted: "Thirty-two years after she attracted international attention for sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Mrs. Parks's ardent devotion to human rights still burns brightly, like a well-tended torch that ignites her spirit and calls her to service whenever she is needed."
