The Art of the Start and The Customer Evangelist Manifesto

Seth Godin and his team recently launched a new project named ChangeThis.

They're "mission" seems obvious: to change the world by sharing thought provoking ideas.

From the looks of things they'll soon have the "entire" blogging community sharing their work with the world ... and so create an amazing viral effect. Certainly something worth studying.

The interesting part is that there seems to be no "business model" in the background designed to make the "company" some profit.

Is this trully a non-profit or is the team holding something secret?

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Until then, here's one of their first manifestos: The Art of the Start, by Guy Kawasaki.

"A former Apple Fellow and entrepreneur extraordinaire, Guy talks about up-starting a start-up. A sneak preview from his upcoming book, "The Art of the Start." Guy encourages entreprenuers to make meaning, make mantra, and get going. According to Kawasaki, some examples of making 'meaning' are: make the world a better place, increase the quality of life, right a terrible wrong, and prevent the end of something good. Plus, his brilliant FAQ's (frequently avoided questions) will answer almost all your fears about starting a new business."

I read it, and it rocks. Highly recommended!

Dowload it here!

But, the good things don't stop here.

ChangeThis also has a manifesto by two of my favorite authors (I also interviewed Ben for the Enlightened Salesperson bonus interview), Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba, of CreatingCustomerEvangelists.com.

"Get customers who worship the ground you advertise on. "A customer evangelist not only purchases from you regularly, she feels compelled to tell others." They demonstrate how to create customer evangelists in today's market of endless choices. Ben and Jackie use triumphs from the business world to deliver sound advice on how to maximize your marketing output and quality. A must-read for any consumer-heavy business."

Get this terrific manifesto here!

And what's my plan?

I'll try to put together a manifesto based on the Enlightened Salesperson and see whether ChangeThis would like to have a go at it:)

When I find the time ...
